The Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a White Alert spanning from Lhaviyani Atoll to Addu City, warning of expected heavy rain and thunderstorms.
The advisory remains in effect from 18:00 hrs on October 14 until 00:00 hrs on October 15, 2026.
In its 24-hour general weather forecast issued today at 10:00 AM, the Met Office projects scattered showers and occasional thunderstorms across the country. Winds are expected to blow from the north and northwest at 5 to 15 miles per hour, with gust speeds reaching up to 30 miles per hour during squalls. Seas are forecasted to remain slight, becoming temporarily rough during thunderstorms, with wave heights estimated between 2 and 5 feet.
