A Pole-and-Line FAD Deployed Off M.Dhiththundi

A pole-and-line Fish Aggregating Device (FAD) has been re-established 16 nautical miles southeast of M. Dhiththundi, according to the Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Marine Resources.

The Ministry stated that its technical team, currently operating in Meemu Atoll, re-installed the FAD today after the previous device in the area went adrift. The newly deployed pole-and-line FAD has been assigned the registration code K10D02-01.

Additionally, the technical team deployed another pole-and-line FAD yesterday, located 13 nautical miles southeast of M. Mulah, under registration code K10D01-01.

With these lost FADs now successfully replaced, local fishermen operating in the region are expected to benefit from improved ease of operation and enhanced fishing opportunities.
