The Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Ocean Resources has successfully re-established a pole-and-line Fish Aggregating Device (FAD) off the coast of M. Mulah following the severance of the previous surface marker unit.
According to technical specifications released by the Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Ocean Resources, the replacement anchored FAD assembly—designated under registration code K10D01-01—was fully deployed and operationalized today, September 26, 2026. The unit is anchored at geo-coordinates approximately 13 nautical miles southeast of M. Mulah.
The rapid re-installation forms part of the ministry’s ongoing maintenance protocol for the national anchored FAD network. By replacing compromised or severed mooring lines and surface buoys, the program aims to maintain pelagic fish aggregation efficiency, optimize operational search times, and mitigate fuel consumption overheads for commercial pole-and-line tuna fleets operating in the sector.
