The Secretariat of the Rathafandhoo Council in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll has re-opened the opportunity for interested investors to submit proposals for establishing and operating grouper aquaculture cages within the island’s lagoon area.
According to the Rathafandhoo Council, the decision to issue a new tender follows the annulment of its previous announcement issued on September 2, 2026, which was canceled due to an insufficient response.
The Rathafandhoo Council specified that proponents must submit comprehensive proposals containing the following operational and commercial details:
Proposed Monthly Rent: The proposed monthly lease rate to be paid directly to the Rathafandhoo Council for utilizing the lagoon area.
Lease Duration: The total operational period requested for holding and farming groupers in the lagoon.
Operational Experience: Supporting documents demonstrating prior experience in marine aquaculture or commercial fisheries (optional).
The Rathafandhoo Council emphasized that evaluation criteria will prioritize applications offering the most competitive commercial lease rates and those committing to long-term operations within the lagoon.
Proposals must be delivered in sealed envelopes marked "Application for Grouper Cages in GDh. Rathafandhoo Lagoon" to the Rathafandhoo Council Secretariat by 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. For further inquiries, the Rathafandhoo Council advises interested parties to contact their administration office during official working hours at +960 6841626.
