The Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a White Alert spanning from Haa Alifu Atoll down to Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, effective tonight from 18:00 to 23:00.
The alert warns that the region will experience heavy rain and thunderstorms, with wind gusts expected to reach up to 40 mph during the five-hour window.

Separately, the meteorological office released its broader weather forecast, noting that scattered rain and thunderstorms will affect various parts of the country, with heavy showers likely over some islands.
Winds are predicted to blow from the west and northwest at speeds between 13 and 20 mph, with squalls potentially reaching around 40 mph. Seas are forecast to be rough nationwide, with wave heights running between 5 and 7 feet.
The Met Office has advised all individuals to exercise caution and remain alert to changing weather conditions.
