The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has urged seafarers to exercise heightened vigilance following a maritime incident in which wooden planks fell overboard from a listing vessel near Baa Atoll.
According to the MNDF, reports indicate that a boat began tilting heavily approximately 4 nautical miles southeast of B. Eydhafushi, causing its cargo of timber to slide into the open sea. Current maritime assessments suggest the debris is drifting eastward.
MNDF advise all vessels traveling through the area to stay alert, especially at night when drifting timber is difficult to see..
