In a move to broaden its commercial reach and meet rising consumer demand, the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has officially opened a new retail outlet at Hulhumalé Phase 2.
The store, situated on the ground floor of Vinares Tower 2, was inaugurated by MIFCO Chairman Abdulla Faiz. The opening ceremony brought together senior company officials, including MIFCO Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Anas, alongside Central Hulhumalé Constituency MP Abdulla Shazeem.
The new establishment marks MIFCO’s second storefront in Hulhumalé Phase 2 and its sixth retail outlet across the Maldives. The company currently runs operations at Hiyaa Tower 2 and near the Hulhumalé Hospital in Phase 1, alongside two outlets in the capital along Hilaalee Magu and at the North Harbour. Earlier this year, MIFCO also launched an outlet in Hithadhoo, Addu City, which stands as its first regional store outside the Greater Malé area.
Speaking to reporters after the ribbon-cutting, CEO Mohamed Anas underscored that expanding the company's retail network is vital to ensuring steady public access to fresh, affordable fisheries products. He noted that active preparations are underway to open dedicated stores across other cities nationwide, pointing out that the commissioning of the Kandu Oiy Giri dried fish facility in July has significantly reduced previous distribution bottlenecks.
The Vinares outlet carries MIFCO's full inventory of canned, frozen, and value-added goods. Operating under the company’s revised schedule rolled out on August 1, 2026, the shop will welcome customers seven days a week, including Fridays, to satisfy growing local demand for its weekend specialty releases.
