A new trolling Fish Aggregating Device (FAD) has been deployed off the eastern coast of Gn. Fuvahmulah to support local artisanal and sports fishing.
The FAD, designated under identification number Q10V01-02, was established on 10 September 2026, positioned 10 nautical miles east of Fuvahmulah.
The installation of trolling FADs aims to facilitate easier, more accessible fishing grounds for small-craft fishers and local trolling vessels operating closer to home islands.
The deployment is expected to provide a substantial boost to Fuvahmulah’s pelagic fisheries and sports fishing activities. Marine authorities advise all vessel operators to adhere to standard regulations near FADs and navigate cautiously to avoid damaging the mooring system and surface buoys.
