Strong interest and high praise from resort chefs during Food & Hospitality Asia Maldives (FHAM 2026) have energized the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Limited (MIFCO) to scale up its direct supply operations to the hospitality sector, cutting out third-party middlemen.
The premier trade event, which opened on 7 September at the Manhattan Grand Hotel in Hulhumalé, officially concludes tonight at 19:00 hrs. Throughout the three-day exhibition, culinary teams and executive chefs from across the country visited MIFCO’s dedicated stall, where the company showcased a premium selection of its fisheries products—including chilled fish, its specialized Ranvaru line, signature canned varieties, and other regular MIFCO products. The stall also offered items for direct retail purchase to visitors throughout the fair.
Company representatives noted that resort chefs were particularly enthusiastic about the quality, freshness, and sheer range of local tuna products on display, reinforcing the viability of supplying resort kitchens directly from source.
"We have received an overwhelmingly positive response, especially from chefs working across various resorts," a MIFCO official said on the final day of the fair. "They were very impressed by the variety of products we have to offer. We have full confidence in our inventory and capacity to meet this demand, enabling us to supply resorts directly rather than having them procure through third-party vendors."
While MIFCO already supplies a number of properties, its presence at FHAM 2026 was targeted at expanding direct commercial supply channels. In addition to serving resorts, the company introduced an on-site registration initiative for local restaurants and food service operators, issuing dedicated discount IDs that allow registered businesses to procure MIFCO products at preferential rates.
Alongside B2B engagements, MIFCO conducted an exclusive promotional campaign featuring lucky draws with assorted product bundles—including popular canned varieties and packaged fish—drawing both hospitality professionals and members of the public before the expo wraps up this evening.
