The Maritime Training Institute (MTI) is preparing to commence a new batch of its Coastal Navigation Course Level 2, at its Malé campus.
Scheduled to begin on September 16, 2026, the 30-hour program is now open for registration. The course is accredited by the Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and Trade, combining both theoretical instruction and practical training.
The curriculum covers critical navigational disciplines, including chart work, navigation, RADAR, GPS, and Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS). In addition, experienced industry professionals will instruct participants in maritime safety and marine communications.
According to MTI, the course is open to anyone proficient in Dhivehi and English who can understand the instructional material. The training paves the way to obtaining the captain's license required to operate Category B, C, and D vessels navigating up to 24 nautical miles outside Maldivian atolls.
