Dislodged Gadhdhoo Fish Aggregating Device Replaced at New Position

A pole-and-line Fish Aggregating Device (FAD) previously lost off the coast of Gdh. Gadhdhoo due to various circumstances has been re-anchored.

The Secretariat of the Gadhdhoo Council stated that the pole-and-line FAD, which cut adrift from its original position 12 nautical miles southwest of the island, was re-anchored at a new location by the Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture, and Ocean Resources at the council's request.

According to the Ministry, the pole-and-line unit, bearing identification code "P10D02," was deployed today, September 9, 2026. The FAD is now established 14 nautical miles south of Gdh. Gadhdhoo.

The deployment forms part of the national anchored FAD network maintained by the government to support both pole-and-line and artisanal troll-line fisheries, facilitating easier access to schools of fish for local fishermen.
