The leadership of GA. Gemanafushi and the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) held high-level discussions last Thursday to explore purchasing fish directly through the island's ice plant and enhancing its operational services.
The meeting was attended by Member of Parliament for the Gemanafushi Constituency Asadhullaa Shihab, Gemanafushi Council President Ismail Yaameen, and members of the island council. MIFCO was represented by Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Anas alongside senior corporate officials.
Discussions centered on strengthening the plant's current operational capacity and establishing mechanisms for fishermen to weigh and sell their catch directly at the facility. The delegations also evaluated measures to make a wider variety of MIFCO value-added fish products commercially available to the community through the ice plant.
