The Secretariat of the Kalaidhoo Council has requested owners of land vehicles and sea vessels operating on the island to submit their information to establish an official island-wide registry.
According to a public announcement released by the council, compiling a comprehensive registry of all operational vehicles and vessels is mandatory under the Decentralization Act (Act No. 7/2010). To facilitate the registry, the council has urged all owners of road transport and maritime craft based in the island to complete and lodge the designated application form.
The required submission includes:
Completed registry application form
Copy of the vehicle or vessel registration document
Copy of the owner's national identity card
Owners are instructed to submit the documentation to the Kalaidhoo Council Secretariat in person or via email to info@kalaidhoo.gov.mv before Thursday, September 24, 2026. The application forms are available directly at the council’s service counter.
The council also noted that once the initial database is finalized, owners must regularly report any new vehicles or vessels brought to the island, as well as any crafts permanently relocated elsewhere.
