MTI to Launch New Batch of Coastal Navigation Course 2 in Malé

The Maritime Training Institute (MTI) has opened registration for a new batch of its Coastal Navigation Course 2, scheduled to begin in Malé City on Friday, August 28, 2026.

Approved by the Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and Trade, the 30-hour course prepares individuals to obtain driving licenses and captaincy certification for categories B, C, and D vessels operating beyond 24 nautical miles from Maldivian atolls. MTI confirmed that participants who successfully complete the training will be awarded officially recognized certificates.

The training program will cover key areas including navigation, maritime safety, personal safety, general seamanship and vessel knowledge, and essential first aid.

To be eligible, applicants must be Maldivian citizens, capable of reading, writing, and communicating in either Dhivehi or English, and possess the necessary aptitude to comprehend the course material.
