Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Limited (MIFCO) has announced that all fish purchasing operations will remain closed tomorrow, 25 August 2026, in observance of the public holiday for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).

In a notice issued to fishermen, the state-owned fisheries company stated that its processing centers, complex facilities, and fish-collecting vessels will not purchase fish during the holiday.

MIFCO confirmed that regular fish weighing and purchasing operations will resume as normal the following day.

As the country's primary processor purchasing the bulk of local fish catch, MIFCO routinely halts weighing operations on Fridays and public holidays, providing advance notice to fishermen whenever closures occur outside of standard schedules.
