Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has expanded its retail operations by opening its local shops on Fridays to improve customer access to fresh fish products.
Starting from the first of this month, the company's retail outlets across K. Malé, K. Hulhumalé, and S. Addu will serve the public on Fridays. Under the new schedule, the shops will be open from 08:30 to 10:30 in the morning, and again from 20:00 to 23:00 at night.
Regular weekday operations run continuously from 08:30 to 23:00, with brief closures observed only during standard prayer times.
The company stated that the extended schedule directly supports citizens who are occupied with work during the regular workweek. The adjusted hours allow families to easily source fresh catch and access a variety of special product lines introduced specifically for Friday family gatherings and weekend meals.
This retail expansion follows significant recent upgrades to the company's operational capacity. MIFCO has successfully restored processing activities at K. Kanduoiygiri, bringing a new dried fish factory and a dedicated ice plant online to secure a steady and reliable supply chain for the capital region.
