The Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a yellow alert for the central atolls.
The yellow alert was issued at 07:30 tonight for the area from K. Atoll to L. Atoll. The alert states that heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in these atolls. It also forecasts that winds will gust up to 45 mph during showers. The alert is valid until 11:30 tonight.
The Met Office has also issued a white alert from HA. Atoll to L. Atoll. The white alert, issued for these atolls from 08:00 tonight until 02:00 midnight, states that winds are expected to blow at speeds between 19 mph and 24 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph during showers. It is also forecasted that the seas will be rough.
