A yellow alert has been issued for a large area of the Maldives, forecasting strong winds of 50 mph during squalls and very rough seas.
The Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a white alert from K. Atoll to Addu City. The yellow alert, issued for these atolls from 02:00 pm to 06:00 pm, states that winds are expected to blow at speeds between 25 mph and 30 mph in this region.
Furthermore, it is forecasted that winds will strengthen to 50 mph during squalls and seas will be very rough.
The weather forecast published by the Maldives Meteorological Service for the next 24 hours states that rain and thunderstorms are expected across various parts of the Maldives, with heavy rainfall likely in some islands. Winds are forecasted to blow from the west and northwest at speeds between 15 mph and 25 mph. It also states that winds may gust to between 45 mph and 50 mph during squalls.
