The National Meteorological Service has issued a Yellow Alert for a large area, forecasting 50 mph gusts and rough seas.
The Yellow Alert is effective from 09:45 tonight to 01:45 past midnight, from Laamu Atoll to Meemu Atoll. According to the alert, winds are expected to blow between 25 mph and 30 mph in these atolls. It is also forecasted that gusts will reach 45 mph, resulting in rough seas.
Forecasting the weather for the next 24 hours, the National Meteorological Service stated that rain is expected across various regions, with heavy showers and thunderstorms likely in some islands. Winds will generally blow from the southwest and west at speeds between 15 mph and 25 mph, with gusts potentially reaching around 45 mph.
Seas are generally expected to be rough across all areas, with wave heights ranging from 4 to 7 feet.
Due to the bad weather, the National Meteorological Service has urged everyone to be cautious of the weather conditions.
