A yellow alert has been issued for a large area of the Maldives due to forecasted very rough seas.
The National Meteorological Service issued the yellow alert at 03:00 for the area from B. Atoll to ADh. Atoll. The yellow alert is effective for these atolls until 09:30 tonight, with winds expected to blow at speeds between 25 and 30 miles per hour. It is also forecasted that winds will gust up to 45 miles per hour during showers, making the seas very rough.
The National Meteorological Service stated that as the southwest monsoon has intensified over the Maldives region, general winds are expected to be strong and seas very rough tonight and tomorrow, especially in the northern and central atolls. Therefore, seafarers in the central and northern atolls are advised to stay updated with the latest weather information and pay special attention to necessary safety precautions.
