President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the work on the ADh. Dhidhdhoo harbour channel breakwater relocation project will begin next November.
He made this statement while visiting Dhidhdhoo during his ongoing tour of the inhabited islands of South Ari Atoll, meeting and holding discussions with the island's senior officials and residents.
During this consultative meeting held yesterday at the Dhidhdhoo harbour area with the island council, senior officials of the island's institutions, and the residents currently living on the island, the needs for the general social development of the Dhidhdhoo residents were shared with the President.
In this meeting, the island council and residents shared the difficulties and inconveniences faced in using the harbour during the southwest monsoon due to the current location of the harbour's channel breakwater. In addition, the residents shared information regarding the island's stalled water and sewerage project.
Listening to the residents' words and addressing their concerns and ideas, the President gave assurance that under the government's efforts to resolve the long-standing issue of the harbour's channel breakwater, the work will commence in November.
During this meeting, the President listened to the matters proposed by the island council and residents and exchanged views. Furthermore, through the Ministers and heads of state-owned companies who participated in the meeting, he shared updated information on the island's development projects.
