White alert issued in the morning extended to tonight due to forecast of strong winds and rough seas

The alert issued for the entire Maldives this morning, forecasting strong winds and rough seas, has been extended until 09:00 tonight.

Due to worsening weather, the National Meteorological Centre initially issued a white alert for the entire Maldives at 10:00 this morning. As the white alert expired at 03:00 this afternoon, the alert period has now been extended until 09:00.

The Met Office stated that during the extended alert period, winds are expected to blow at speeds between 19 miles and 24 miles per hour. Furthermore, seas are expected to be rough.

As strong winds and rough seas are forecasted, the Met Office has urged seafarers to be cautious of the weather.
