The National Meteorological Center has issued a white alert for a large part of the Maldives forecasting bad weather.
The alert is issued from HA Atoll to GDh Atoll, from 09:45 to 15:30. During the alert period, winds are expected to blow between 19 to 24 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph, and seas are expected to be rough, according to the National Meteorological Center.
The National Meteorological Center previously forecasted that the Southwest Monsoon will intensify across various regions of the Maldives, bringing rain to different parts of the country, with some islands experiencing thunderstorms. The agency also urged seafarers to stay updated with the latest weather information as strong winds and rough seas are expected.
Due to the bad weather, the National Meteorological Center has urged everyone to be cautious. The police have also urged the public to take precautions, especially advising seafarers to check the weather before starting a journey and to act in accordance with the weather alerts. They also reminded seafarers to ensure safety measures are complete before starting a journey and to have all passengers wear life jackets.
