The National Meteorological Center has issued a white alert for the southern atolls.
The Met Office issued the white alert from GA. Atoll to Addu City. The alert was issued at 10:15 am, forecasting heavy rain and thunderstorms. The alert will remain in effect until 14:00.
Forecasting the weather for the next 24 hours, the Met Office stated that winds will blow from the southeast and south at speeds between 5 and 15 miles per hour in the southern atolls. The Met Office also stated that seas will be moderate in the southern region, with wave heights expected to be between 2 to 4 feet.
