White Alert Issued for Southern Atolls Anticipating Strong Winds

A white alert has been issued for some southern atolls due to anticipated strong winds.

A white alert was just issued from GDh Atoll to Addu City, anticipating heavy rain and thunderstorms in the area. Winds are expected to gust up to 35 mph during squalls. This alert will expire at 03:00 PM.

Forecasting the weather for the Maldives, the National Meteorological Centre stated that although some islands may experience showers, the weather will generally be fine. Winds are expected from the southwest and west at speeds between 10 and 20 mph.

Seas are expected to be moderate and rough during squalls, with wave heights estimated to be between three and six feet.
