White Alert issued for northern and central atolls with winds expected to reach 40 mph

A White Alert has been issued for a large part of the Maldives, with wind gusts expected to reach 40 mph.

The Maldives Meteorological Service issued the White Alert from HA. Atoll to V. Atoll. The alert is effective from 12:00 pm to 06:00 pm, with winds expected to blow between 19 mph and 24 mph. It is also predicted that wind gusts will reach 40 mph, resulting in rough seas.

According to the 24-hour weather forecast published by the Maldives Meteorological Service, rain and thunderstorms are expected across various parts of the country, with heavy showers likely in some islands. Winds are expected to blow from the west and southwest at speeds between 13 mph and 24 mph. Wind gusts may reach up to 40 mph.

The Met Office predicts that the seas will be rough. Wave heights are expected to be between 4 to 7 feet.
