The Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a White Alert for the northern and central atolls, forecasting winds up to 40 mph.
Due to worsening weather, the agency initially issued a Yellow Alert at 10:00 am today. Upon the expiration of the alert issued from HA to ADh atoll, the agency has now issued a White Alert for these atolls. In addition to these atolls, a White Alert has also been issued for V, M, F, and Dh atolls. The alert is effective from 02:00 pm to 08:00 pm tonight.
The Maldives Meteorological Service stated today that the weather will worsen over the next three days due to the strengthening of the southwest monsoon. General winds and seas are expected to be rough, with strong winds and rough seas expected during squalls. The agency also stated that rain and thunderstorms are expected across various parts of the country, with heavy rainfall possible in some islands.
