The Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) has issued a white alert for a large part of the country due to worsening weather conditions.
The white alert was issued at 02:30 pm from Baa Atoll to Addu City. The alert was issued for these 15 atolls until 08:30 pm tonight, predicting strong winds between 19 mph and 24 mph and rough seas.
The Met Office stated that the weather will be bad across all regions of the Maldives for the next two days. Thunderstorms are expected in the northern atolls, while heavy rain and strong winds are expected in the central and southern atolls. Therefore, the National Meteorological Service has urged everyone, especially seafarers, to be cautious of the weather.
