White Alert issued for a large area with gusts up to 40 mph expected

Due to worsening weather, a White Alert has been issued for a large area.

The National Meteorological Centre has issued the White Alert from 01:15 pm to 06:00 pm, covering the area from ADh. Atoll to Addu City.

The alert states that heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected. It is also estimated that winds will gust up to 40 mph during showers.

Forecasting the weather for the next 24 hours, the National Meteorological Centre stated that rain and thunderstorms will occur across various parts of the Maldives, with heavy rain expected in some islands.

Winds are expected to blow from the west and northwest at speeds between 8 mph and 18 mph. It is also stated that winds may gust up to approximately 35 mph during showers.

Seas are expected to be moderately rough, with wave heights estimated to be between 3 to 6 feet.
