White Alert issued for a large area forecasting winds up to 40 mph

A White Alert has been issued for a large area forecasting winds up to 40 mph.

The Maldives Meteorological Service issued the White Alert from N Atoll to F Atoll. The alert is effective from 11:45 am to 05:00 pm, forecasting heavy rain and thunderstorms. Additionally, winds are expected to gust up to 45 mph during showers.

According to the Maldives Meteorological Service, rain is expected in the central and northern islands over the next 24 hours. The agency forecasts heavy rain and thunderstorms at times. Although the weather is generally expected to be fine in the southern atolls, some showers may affect the area.

Forecasting the weather for the next 24 hours, the Maldives Meteorological Service predicts winds between 10 to 20 mph in the central and northern atolls, and between 5 to 15 mph in the southern atolls. The agency also forecasts that seas will be moderately rough in the central and northern islands, and moderately calm in the southern islands.
