Due to worsening weather, a white alert has been issued for a large area of the Maldives.
The Maldives Meteorological Service issued the white alert from HA Atoll to Lh Atoll. The alert, effective from 11:45 am to 04:00 pm for these atolls, states that heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected. Furthermore, winds are expected to blow between 19 to 24 miles per hour, with gusts up to 40 miles per hour. Seas are also expected to be rough.
The Maldives Meteorological Service stated that seas will be rough across all areas of the Maldives today. Wave heights are estimated to be between 5 to 7 feet.
