The alert issued for the entire Maldives this afternoon, predicting strong winds and rough seas, has been extended until 01:00 tonight.
The National Meteorological Centre extended the white alert, which was initially issued for the whole country at 12:30 PM due to bad weather, after it expired at 06:30 PM.
The Met Office stated that during the extended alert period, winds are expected to blow at speeds between 19 and 24 miles per hour. It is also predicted that winds may gust up to 40 miles per hour during squalls, resulting in rough seas.
The Met Office has advised the public to remain cautious, forecasting that the weather across the Maldives will remain poor over the next two days, with strong winds and rough seas expected to continue.
