Weather worsens, Yellow Alert issued for a large area

Due to worsening weather, the Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a Yellow Alert for 10 atolls.

The Yellow Alert was issued at 10:00 am, covering the area from HA. to ADh. Atoll. The alert forecasts heavy rain and thunderstorms for these atolls. The alert is valid until 02:00 pm.

The Maldives Meteorological Service stated today that the weather will deteriorate over the next three days due to the strengthening of the Southwest Monsoon. It is forecast that surface winds will be strong and seas will be rough, with even stronger winds and rougher seas during squalls. The agency also stated that rain and thunderstorms are expected across various parts of the country, with heavy rainfall likely in some islands.

Due to the bad weather, the Maldives Meteorological Service has urged everyone, especially seafarers and travelers, to stay updated with weather information and to be cautious of the weather.
