Weather worsens in the south, White Alert issued

The National Meteorological Service has issued a White Alert for the southern atolls due to worsening weather conditions.

The White Alert was issued for the southern atolls from 01:45 pm to 07:45 pm tonight, forecasting heavy rain and thunderstorms. Additionally, winds are expected to gust up to 40 miles per hour during squalls in these atolls.

Forecasting the weather for the Maldives, the Met Office stated that some islands may experience showers and possible thunderstorms. Winds are expected to blow from the southeast and south at speeds between 07 to 17 miles per hour. Furthermore, winds may gust up to approximately 40 miles per hour during squalls.

Seas are expected to be moderately rough and rough during squalls, with wave heights estimated to be between 2 to 5 feet.
