The Veymandoo Council has requested arrangements to provide easy access to ice for the island's fishermen.
The council made this request during a meeting held today with Fisheries Minister Ahmed Shiyam.
Veymandoo Council Requests Easy Access to Ice for Fishermen
During the meeting held at the Fisheries Ministry today, the Veymandoo Council requested the establishment of an ice plant on the island to ensure easy access to ice for fishermen, as well as the deployment of a trolling FAD (kandhufathi) for the youth.
In this meeting, Minister Shiyam shared information with the council regarding the soft loans facilitated by the government through the SME Development Finance Corporation (SDFC) to install Refrigerated Sea Water (RSW) systems on fishing vessels. Concluding the meeting, the Minister gave assurances that the issues highlighted by the council would be resolved.
