A trolling Fish Aggregating Device (FAD) has been deployed off Lh. Vavvaru.
According to the Fisheries Ministry, the Lh. Vavvaru trolling FAD was established 4.2 miles west of the island. The newly established trolling FAD's number is F09V05.

This is the second FAD established in Lh. Atoll by the Fisheries Ministry. The first trolling FAD in the atoll was deployed on 17 September 2023. That FAD is located 5 miles south of Lh. Olhuvelifushi.
Trolling FADs, established at a distance of between 3 to 6 miles around islands, are specialized for trolling and sport fishing. The trolling FADs are designed with a light visible from afar and a radar reflector to easily identify the location of the FAD.
