Trolling FADs, established at a distance of between 3 to 6 miles around islands, are specialized for trolling and sport fishing. The trolling FAD is designed with a light visible from afar and a radar reflector to easily identify its location.
The Fisheries Ministry has previously stated that the main purpose of establishing these trolling FADs is to further promote this type of fishing, develop it sustainably, and provide convenience for fishermen, young fishers, and those engaged in recreational fishing.
