Tonight's Weather: Orange Alert Issued for Some Northern Atolls

The National Meteorological Service has just issued an orange alert for some northern atolls.

The orange alert has been issued from HA to Sh atoll. The alert for these three atolls is effective from 08:30 to 10:30. During the alert period, the office forecasts heavy rain, thunderstorms, and flooding in these atolls.

A yellow alert has been issued for other northern atolls from 08:15 to 01:00 midnight. The alert was issued for these atolls forecasting heavy rain and thunderstorms. It is also predicted that winds will gust up to 45 miles per hour during showers, resulting in rough seas.

Due to the current seasonal rains across various parts of the Maldives, relevant authorities have urged the public to be cautious of the weather and take preventive measures. Seafarers, in particular, are advised not to travel unless absolutely necessary, and if travel is unavoidable, to obtain weather information, ensure safety measures are in place, and check that communication equipment is functioning before starting their journey.
