Technology MoU signed with China will open more opportunities to research the Maldives' marine environment: EPA

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has stated that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on technological cooperation signed between the Maldives EPA, China's South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences will open more opportunities to research the Maldives' marine environment.

The MoU, which agrees to cooperate in the field of technology for marine research and environmental protection in the Maldives, was signed at a special ceremony held yesterday at the Ministry of Tourism and Environment. Minister of Tourism and Environment Thoriq Ibrahim signed the MoU on behalf of the Maldivian government.

Details of specific projects and programs to be conducted under this MoU have not yet been disclosed. However, the government noted that this agreement will further strengthen ties between the Maldives and China, and serves as a major step forward for environmental protection efforts in the Maldives.

The EPA, which will implement this agreement, stated that the MoU will open more opportunities to research the Maldives' marine environment.
