Team Gold Fish has secured first place in the "Rahavaru" cooking competition held as part of this year's Fishermen's Day activities.
The "Rahavaru" competition was organized by the Ministry with the aim of providing opportunities for youth and newcomers to the culinary field, diversifying the fishing industry, and involving them in efforts for sustainable development. Highlighting the contribution of fisheries to food security in the Maldives and demonstrating the importance of producing and utilizing new varieties of fish products, in light of changing dietary habits of Maldivians, were also among the objectives of this competition.
A large number of men and women from R. Atoll participated in this competition, which was open to the entire R. Atoll and held today. While the Rahavaru competition was ongoing, the President and the First Lady visited to observe the progress of the competition.
While the participating teams prepared modern local and international dishes incorporating many Maldivian flavors, Team Gold Fish won first place in the competition. The team was awarded a prize of 10,000 Rufiyaa. Second place went to Team Rehendhi. And third place went to Team Masrodhi. The Ministry and M4PC also awarded cash prizes to these teams. The prizes for the winning teams were presented by the First Lady, Madam Sajidha Ahmed.
