Subsidized Fuel Now Available for Fishing Vessels at Thinadhoo FSM Shed

The government has arranged for fishing vessels to receive fuel at subsidized rates from the Fuel Supply Maldives (FSM) shed operating in Thinadhoo City.

Disclosing this today, the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources stated that arrangements have now been fully made for all fishing vessels registered under the government's 'Fahi Hakatha' program to purchase fuel at subsidized prices from Thinadhoo City.

The Ministry stated that under this arrangement, the fuel quota for every eligible fishing vessel to purchase subsidized fuel will be determined and issued through the established official Fisheries Information System. With this, all fishermen participating in the Fahi Hakatha program will receive fuel at subsidized prices without any difficulties.

While arrangements have been made to provide fuel at subsidized prices from GDh. Thinadhoo, arrangements have also been made to provide fuel at subsidized prices from D. Meedhoo starting from the 1st of this month.

Due to the ongoing war in the Middle East, global oil prices are rising, and the government is making many efforts to minimize its impact on Maldivian fishermen. As such, arrangements have now been made for all fishing vessels to receive fuel at cheaper rates from all areas in the north and south of the Maldives where FSM sheds are established, starting from 22 April 2026.
