The National Meteorological Centre has predicted strong winds and rough seas for today as well.
Forecasting the weather for the next 24 hours, the Met Office stated that rain is expected across various parts of the Maldives, with heavy rain and thunderstorms likely in some islands. Winds are forecast to blow from the southwest and west at speeds between 15 to 25 miles per hour. Winds may gust up to 45 miles per hour during showers.
According to the National Meteorological Centre, seas will also be rough today. Wave heights are estimated to be between 4 to 7 feet.
The Maldives is currently experiencing the Southwest Monsoon rains. As strong winds and rough seas are expected during this rainy period, the National Meteorological Centre has urged seafarers to be attentive and stay updated with the latest weather information. In addition, the Police have also appealed to seafarers to be cautious of the weather, check the weather before starting a journey, and act in accordance with weather alerts. They also reminded everyone to ensure safety measures are complete before setting sail and to have all passengers wear life jackets.
