Strong winds and rough seas have been forecast for various parts of the Maldives over the next three days.
The Department of Meteorology stated that as the southwest monsoon is expected to intensify over the Maldives region, rain is expected across various parts of the country over the next three days, with heavy rain and thunderstorms likely in some islands. The department also noted that winds are expected to be strong and seas rough, especially in the central and northern atolls during this spell of bad weather.
Forecasting the weather for the next 24 hours, the National Meteorological Department stated that some islands may experience showers starting from this afternoon. Winds are expected to blow from the southwest and west at speeds between 8 to 18 miles per hour.
Seas are expected to be moderately rough, with wave heights estimated to be between 3 to 5 feet, according to the Met Office.
As the weather is expected to worsen over the next three days, the Met Office has urged everyone to be cautious of the weather and to stay updated with weather information. Currently, no weather alerts have been issued for any part of the Maldives.
