The Maldives Meteorological Service has forecast strong winds and rough seas across the Maldives over the next five days.
The Maldives Meteorological Service stated that winds are strengthening in the southern region due to a storm formed southeast of the Maldives. Furthermore, a low-pressure trough formed northeast of the Maldives is causing the formation of numerous heavy rain clouds in that area, the national meteorological service said.
With this, there is a high probability of the onset of the Southwest Monsoon in the Maldives region, and therefore, it is forecast that over the next five days (May 9-13), strong winds and rain will be experienced, especially in the southern and central regions, the Maldives Meteorological Service stated.
As strong winds and rough seas are expected, the Maldives Meteorological Service has urged everyone, especially seafarers, to stay updated with the latest weather information and to pay special attention to necessary safety precautions.
