The National Meteorological Center has forecast strong winds and rough seas across various parts of the Maldives today.
Forecasting the weather for the next 24 hours, the center stated that rain is expected across various regions, with heavy showers and thunderstorms likely in some islands.
Winds are expected to blow from the west and northwest at speeds between 13 to 23 miles per hour. During squalls, winds may gust up to approximately 45 miles per hour, and seas are expected to be rough. Wave heights are estimated to be between 4 to 7 feet.
Due to the bad weather, the National Meteorological Center has urged everyone to be cautious. A White Alert has already been issued from K. Atoll to Addu City. Heavy rain, winds between 22 to 27 miles per hour, gusts up to 45 miles per hour during squalls, and rough seas are expected in this region. The White Alert for this area is effective until 14:30 this afternoon.
