Strong winds and rough seas expected across a large part of the Maldives today: MET

The Maldives Meteorological Service has forecast strong winds and rough seas across a large part of the country today.

In a white alert issued at 08:00 this morning, the agency stated that winds will blow between 22 mph and 27 mph in the alert area. The agency also forecast that winds will gust up to 45 mph during showers, resulting in rough seas.

The alert, issued for the area between N. Atoll and Addu City, will expire at 02:00 pm.

As the weather is deteriorating across various parts of the Maldives, the Maldives Meteorological Service has urged everyone to be cautious of the weather.

MNDF has urged the public to avoid unnecessary sea travel, and for those who must travel to pay special attention to the weather. MNDF also advised against traveling at night, to postpone trips until the weather improves if conditions are unfavorable, and to avoid traveling when the Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a yellow or orange alert.
