Discussions have been held with China's Shanghai Ocean University to strengthen cooperation in the fields of marine science, and coral and marine life breeding.
These discussions took place during a meeting held yesterday between the Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Marine Resources and the university. A delegation from the university, including its Vice Chairman, participated in the meeting.
In this meeting, attended by senior officials of the Fisheries Ministry, discussions were held on strengthening ties with Shanghai Ocean University in marine science and coral and marine life breeding, as well as exchanging ideas on education, training, and human resource development.
According to the Ministry, extensive discussions were held on conducting joint workshops, sharing experiences, and drafting a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to maintain a long-term relationship between the two institutions.
Furthermore, details of the scientific research and technical work currently being conducted by the Maldives Marine Research Institute (MMRI) were shared with the delegation. The meeting also highlighted important collaborative efforts that could be undertaken in the future to advance the field of marine science and sustainably utilize marine resources.
