Stolen rihaakuru tubs from a boat recovered

Police have recovered several tubs of rihaakuru (fish paste) stolen by a group of people from a boat docked at the Male' North Harbour.

The Maldives Police Service stated that efforts to locate the tubs began as soon as the theft was reported to them on the 23rd of this month. By reviewing CCTV footage to identify the suspects, police recovered the tubs after the thieves had already sold them.

"These items were recovered while hidden inside a house after being sold to someone," the police said.

Citing the owner of the boat, police said the value of the stolen rihaakuru tubs amounts to MVR 50,000.

Police added that no arrests have been made in connection with the case yet, and the investigation is ongoing.
