The Ministry of Transport has launched a special program aimed at ensuring the safety and security of sea vessels.
The main objective of this program is to enhance the safety and security of sea travel and reduce incidents at sea, and the program will be conducted throughout the year in various phases, according to the Transport Ministry.
The first phase of the program was targeted at vessels carrying passengers and goods from the atolls to Male', specifically those arriving at Male's North Harbour. In this regard, from the 10th to the 17th of this month, visits were made to all vessels docked at the Male' North Harbour area to inspect the availability of safety equipment and measures, and to provide safety-related information, the Transport Ministry stated. The Ministry also announced that a special program will be initiated targeting the owners, operators, and captains of the vessels docked in that area.
According to the Transport Ministry, this program is a testament to the special importance given to the safety and security of sea travel by the administration of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. The Ministry also stated that this program will increase the awareness of vessel owners and operators, making sea travel even safer.
