Following the temporary closure of the eastern seawalls of the Local Market on the northern side of Male' for repair works, Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has made special arrangements for the vessels that have been using the area.
MPL stated that as the repair works of the eastern seawall and the quay wall of the Local Market are ongoing, to provide uninterrupted services to the daily ferries that were receiving services from that area, MPL has arranged 2 areas for those vessels to provide services.
Accordingly, until the repair works are completed or for a period of 3 months, MPL has assured that vessels wishing to seek services from these two harbours, MPL's North Harbour and Southwest Harbour (T-Jetty), will receive the service. MPL stated that services will be provided to vessels wishing to seek services from these two harbours in accordance with the operating procedures of these two harbours.
MPL requested those who need further information regarding this matter to call Male' North Harbour Operations number 3006545 and T-Jetty Operations number 3039644.
As the practical work of the government's project to widen Boduthakurufaanu Magu on the northern side of Male' to a 4-lane road and develop it to modern standards has begun from the lagoon adjacent to the Local Market, the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has publicly announced and instructed sea vessels not to enter and exit the area and not to use the quay wall during the period of the work. The Ministry stated that sea vessels will not be able to enter the area while the project works are ongoing.
